Hi! My name is Tessa and I am an American Cockapoo™ bred by Rhonda
Carlson. My mom (or dam) is a beautiful black AKC Registered Standard
Poodle. Her name is Bridget Patroness of Harbin but Rhonda just calls her
Bridget for short. She weighs 40 pounds and stands 23 inches high at the
shoulders and 23 inches from the base of her collar to the base of her
tail. She is so tall! My dad (or sire) is a gorgeous chocolate AKC
Registered American Cocker Spaniel. His name is Andy's Autumn Magic.
He weighs 25 pounds. Rhonda is my breeder. She is kind, speaks in a
happy voice, has a soft touch, and has been very good to me.
I was born (whelped) on March 21, 2001. There were 11 (yes, eleven) puppies in my litter. My mom was fed the best food available Eukanuba Puppy food for Medium dogs, and soon I learned to eat it too! Yum! It keeps me healthy and gives me the best possible start in life. That was important to Rhonda.
One fine day a lady came to visit me and my littermates. Rhonda let me and my sisters play on the front lawn when she came to visit. We had a ball! She called us "Black Beauty's" because her favorite Cockapoo color is black. The lady spent over three hours playing with us. She told Rhonda she was looking for an American Cockapoo™ puppy with wonderful health and temperament. I was mesmerized and just sat and watched all my sisters climb onto her lap and play with her. I was hoping she would see me too. She asked Rhonda if my mom and dad had health certifications and Rhonda told her yes. Rhonda showed her my mom and dad's health documents from their veterinary ophthalmologist exam showing that their eyes are free of genetic eye disease. Many people know this as a CERF exam when the papers are registered with the Canine Eye Registration Foundation. She also showed her my parents Orthopedic Foundation for Animals patellar luxation paperwork showing that they are free of this inherited knee problem. They spent a long time talking and looking at the AKC papers for my parents, and Rhonda showed her my family tree back five generations from me, on both my mom and my dad's side of the family! That is called a five generation pedigree. Geez most people don't know their family tree that far back. :>) Finally this lady took me and one of my sisters aside. She played with us and gave me a bunch of belly rubs. She was looking for a mellow puppy so I was happy to lay on my back in her lap and let her rub my belly. I'm no dummy! What a life! I was praying she would take me home. Finally after more than a three hour visit, she snuggled me up in a comfy crate and I slept all of the long drive home. I missed my littermates the first night in my new home. I cried most of the night in my crate. In the morning though...I met my new family. Boy was I surprised! My new pal is a little red headed girl named Monica. Monica is seven years old. We have so much fun together! She is teaching me to sit and it is so easy to do. Every time I sit when she says "sit" I get a wonderful treat! Monica has a sister and a brother too, so there is always someone to play with around here! I love my new home! The best part is that there are two other Cockapoos who live here to keep me company when the kids are at school!
Now, everyday is a new adventure. There are so many new things to explore. My new family is very careful to make my environment safe for me. We sure do have fun! I am seven weeks old now. Be sure and check back to watch me
grow. I am hoping to be as big as my mom Bridget the Patroness of
Harbin! I was five pounds at six weeks and I'm eating lots of Eukanuba for
Puppies, so I'm hoping to grow big! If I grow as big as my mom, I will be
considered a Standard sized American Cockapoo™! Now that would be
special! Click here to to the Cockapoo Club of America website
